The black and white old-timey nightmare is the second feature from writer/director Robert Eggers (The Witch).
The writer/director of The Witch (2015), Robert Eggers, is back with his second film, The Lighthouse, and it seems we have yet another deeply unsettling old-timey folk-tale on our hands.
Little is known about The Lighthouse other than what we see in the trailer, in which the two leads, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe appear stuck together on a craggy little outcrop and R-Patt might be keeping secrets, and Dafoe asks him something about beans and there seems to a mermaid in at least one scene, an octopus in another, and at least one of the men apparently goes mad.
No joke, this movie looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it. It’s been described as a “dark fantasy horror film” – and honestly, is there any better genre than that? The Lighthouse is directed by Robert Eggers and written by him and Max Eggers, who we assume is a relative of his, and distributed by A24 (The Witch, Midsommar, Hereditary)
