The first footage from the highly anticipated film is here.
The Guillermo Del Toro-produced movie adaptation of Alvin Schwartz‘ beloved children’s book series Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark finally has a trailer! Well, multiple teaser-trailers to be precise. Turn out the lights and prepare for terror!
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was co-written by Del Toro, directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) and is being distributed by CBS Films, and from the looks of these teasers, the filmmakers have stayed pretty faithful to the unforgettably spooky illustrations by artist Stephen Gammell that terrified our impressionable young minds and made the books timeless horror classics.
Here’s the Official Synopsis:
It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.
YOU GUYS. This looks SO GOOD!!! I CAN’T EVEN!
SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK will haunt theaters beginning August 9th, 2019.
