Exorcist Star Ben Daniels Delivers Us His Top 10 Horror Films List

It’s an excellent day for a Top 10 horror movie list…

British actor Ben Daniels has been unleashing his talents to U.S. audiences on Friday nights in his latest role as Father Marcus in FOX‘s new The Exorcist series. But it turns out that not only is Daniels a terrific actor with a flair for battling evil forces on-screen, he’s also an avid horror fan in real life.

We caught up with Daniels (whose previous television credits include roles in Flesh and Bone and House of Cards) after an early screening of the The Exorcist pilot, and quickly learned that stepping into the role of seasoned exorcist Father Marcus is a dream come true for the self-professed lover of horror.

We asked him to name some of his favorite horror movies, and he rattled off quite a few before promising to come back to us with a more comprehensive Top-10 list of his all-time faves.

And that he did:

All great choices if I do say so myself, and although I admittedly have not seen Peeping Tom or Séance on a Wet Afternoon, I’m giving those two thumbs up for the titles alone…

Not to be pigeonholed, Daniels was quick to add in some optional titles:

I’ve got chills just looking at this list!

And finally he added the following:

(This is the part of this post where I’m tempted to write ‘Damn, Daniels! Back at it again with the horror movies!,’ but then I don’t, because perhaps not all of our readers are familiar with that reference. But then I write it anyway but in parenthesis.)

In any case, that’s quite an impressive collection. Let’s have another look, shall we?

It seems like every day is an excellent day for a horror movie marathon at Ben’s house.

If you’ve been seeking inspiration for your Halloween horror-movie must-watch list, Ben Daniels‘ Top 10 (or 50) horror films is a great place to start.

In the meantime, check out this clip of Ben talking about his The Exorcist character, Father Marcus.

The Exorcist airs Fridays at 9/8c on FOX.
