“28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds. That is when the world will end.”
It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since we first had our minds blown by Donnie Darko, Richard Kelly’s time-warping sci-fi-horror-thriller about a boy, a bunny, parallel universes, time travel, death and teen angst.
With the 15th Anniversary upon us in December, The British Film Institute is releasing a new 4K-restored version of the the film in theaters in the U.K., along with a stunning new hi-def trailer seen above.
Donnie Darko stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Drew Barrymore, Mary McDonnell, Katharine Ross, Patrick Swayze, Noah Wyle, and Maggie Gyllenhaal along with James Duval as Frank (the bunny) and Seth Rogan in one of his first film appearances.
It’s not immediately clear when the remastered version might be released in the U.S. – but hopefully it will be soon!
