The 85,000 square-foot immersive attraction will feature “Ghostbusters: Dimension” hyper-reality VR experience.
New Yorkers are getting all the Ghostbusters action this summer. Just last week, we told you about the upcoming “Ghostbusters HQ” event happening in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Now, Sony has announced a much bigger and apparently even more immersive attraction that will open at Madame Tussauds Times Square location on July 1st.
Described as a multi-sensory, all-immersive environment, the Ghostbusters Experience aims to bring the cinematic experience to life via state-of-the-art technology, authentic props, costumes, a vehicle, gadgets and exclusive content designed to spook guests as they move through multiple scenes inspired by the film. According to Rolling Stone, the attraction will take up one and a half floors, and will include themed rooms and wax figures based on characters from the new movie.
But the highlight of the Ghostbusters Experience attraction looks to be the “Ghostbusters: Dimension,” a “first-of-its-kind,” virtual reality (VR) experience based on the studio’s new Ghostbusters movie and designed by immersive entertainment specialists, THE VOID.
Ghostbusters: Dimension is described as a “hyper-reality” experience which will allow fans the opportunity to become Ghostbusters themselves by donning suits and blasting their way through a ghost-infested New York apartment with a proton pack.

“Audiences will experience what it is like to be a Ghostbuster, tracking and trapping a supernatural foe through a New York apartment complex in an environment that combines physical props and sets, real-time interactive effects, and virtual reality technology.”
“This supernatural encounter will also include figures of the Ghostbusters crew from the new movie, all of whom are prepared to help visitors wage battle against nefarious paranormal activity.”
Wow, this immersive entertainment business is getting pretty real. What’s next, dogs and cats living together? Mass hysteria?
